We would like to thank all that have dedicated their time and assisted us financially and otherwise during the past season. We look forward with confidence to the generous help during the coming season and can assure you that the club will continue to keep a watchful eye on the beaches under our control.

Thanks for a great 2017/2018!

2017/2018 Season Summary

The 2017/2018 season was a successful one for Nobby’s Beach Surf Life Saving Club Inc.

Thanks to the commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm of our members, we were again able to ensure we upheld our mission and core objective of ensuring no lives are lost on Nobby Beach whilst volunteer lifesaving services are on patrol.

Over the course of the season we:

  • had over 30,000 visitors

  • successfully completed 21 rescues

  • treated 142 people in first aid

  • completed 5,050 preventative actions

across the collective 8,873 hours patrolled by our 9 patrol teams, made possible only by the 180+ members volunteering their time.

We successfully trained new members in a variety of surf life saving awards, cumulatively totaling over 100+ units of competency being delivered.

We continued to strengthen our services we provide to the community, through partnerships with Albatross Nippers Inc. - an all inclusive special needs nipper program and other like minded organisations such as MNM Boardriders club. This allowed us to pursue the opportunity of providing access to the beach for all people at Nobby Beach through making available to the public 2 beach access wheechairs and beach access matting in partnership with the City of Gold Coast.

Across our other core areas, we enjoyed another successful year of junior activities, surf sports and youth/member development.

Notable highlights include:

  • Hosting SCB ‘Young Guns’ Individual Carnival & SLSQ Interbranch Championships.

  • Placing 6th in the QLD Masters Championships Club pointscore.

  • 30 members competing in the QLD Youth Championships.
